I'm posting this from a McDonald's here in Redlands, wrapping up my Southern California jaunt. Unfortunately, I won't be able to get to the Vons on Alvarado in L.A., since I have to detour around I-5 because of the 29-truck pileup in the Newhall tunnel in Santa Clarita, so I have to trek up and around through Lancaster to get back to the 5. I'll post the pictures sometime tomorrow.

Well, I've posted the pictures online. I've only got pictures of the exterior, since the interiors are nothing special, they're totally remodeled beyond their original tenants.

Oh, and a side note, I forgot to take a picture, but on my detour up north, it looks like they're building a Super Target in Palmdale... first time I've actually seen one, the sign says it should be open in November.

It looks like the Willows Holiday has been sold.

This will be the third store they have sold and the new owner has kept the Holiday name on the store. The other sold stores that are still Holiday but not part of the chain are in Red Bluff and Marysville. Both were sold last year.

That explains why the willows location wasn't on the Holiday website when I checked back in October...

The store still looks like it was controlled by the chain when you visited. The shelf tags in the background appear to be from the chain.

When their store in Marysville was sold, I was in a week or so after it sold and it was fairly clear they had sold it. The Marysville Store had news leaked of a potential closure months prior to when it was sold. The shelves inside were very empty, all references to the savings card were gone, and they were not running any advertisements. They also stopped selling most wine a few months prior to the sale. They had already changed wholesalers (Holiday uses C&S, they switched to Unified) and the new items that had been brought in to that point were denoted on the shelves with handwritten shelf tags.
