Over on the Lotta Living board there's a discussion about the Driftwood Dairy at 10724 Lower Azusa Road. The rumor is that this classic drive-through dairy is threatened and plans are to replace it with a minimall. I love the sign, especially "Drifty."

An excellent example of Googie architecture that just fits with L.A. The awning adds a cool touch to what would have otherwise been a very spartan and utilitarian building. It's easy to see how Hanna-Barbera could have envisioned the "Jestson-esque" architecture based on real commercial architecture in Southern California. All the old dairy stores in this area(Southeast US) seemed to have morphed into convenience stores and their old stores are usuall a drive-thru liquor store.
