Wonder if this location still exists or looks the same today. (This is from the July 1960 edition of Chain Store Age, page E36.) Unitedmarkets.com does list a San Anselmo unit but I'm not sure if it is this one in the picture:

The United Market at 100 Redhill Ave. in San Anselmo is still in operation. The outside, including the globe lights seen in picture, the aggregate stone tilt-up concrete walls ,and the streetlights in the parking lot, was untouched when I last saw it a couple of years ago. But only the lower ceiling of the entryway and lobby area is original inside; everything else has changed, notably the ceiling in the sales area. Whatever.
There's also a United Market at 409 4th st. in San Rafael from 1955, though this is pretty much remodeled entirely inside and out.
