I have another one which has been eluding me in So Cal.
Its on Imperial Highway and Meyer Rd, between Norwalk and La Mirada. It currently is a Big Lots, and was a Pic N Save for years. Name this market:

It's still there but no longer a grocery store. It's on the corner of Westwood and Lindbrook. To my knowledge this was never a grocery store, or if it was it was before the mid-70s when I was a kid in the area. It was a Cooper's home improvement store, then a Builders Emporium. Edit: Some other things to point out about the Ross... The addition to the left of the pylon was made when the store became a Ross. Previously that area was Builders' outdoor garden center. The building with parking ramp right behind the Ross was an Akron, then a Circuit City but it's been closed for several years. In the past it has opened seasonally as a Halloween/Christmas store.

Hey guys, in your expert wanderings and research, have you stumbled across anything that would suggest the existence of a grocery store chain in Los Angeles called Fox Markets?
They had 50 stores in Los Angeles and 25 stores in Las Vegas. Their headquarters were in the N.E or S.E. area of downtown L.A.
Food Fair purchased this company in the early 1960's? I am guessing that Fox might have a history that elbows Mayfair? I have uncovered a few court cases that mention Mayfair, Fox and other big chains of that time period.

I was wrong about the Ross not ever being a grocery store. A Ralphs opened at the corner of National and Sepulveda in November 1949. So that's probably the Ross store. The LA Times article about the opening said the store carried "more than 5000 items for local housewives to choose from." (Apparently ending a sentence in a preposition was OK in 1949.)
