Hey all! Just wondering if anyone has any pictures or interresting info on the Safeway stores Before Vons took them over...? Some of these stores are still open as a Vons or Pavilions. Thanks!

I've mentioned this before on these boards, but the only pre-Vons Safeway I'm familiar with was the one in the Huntington Oaks Shopping Center (with Mervyns, now-defunct movie theaters, and several other stores) in Monrovia. It lasted about a year as a Vons, then later became a Marshalls, and remains so today. There's now a Trader Joe's next door, and I'm willing to bet it does more volume than Safeway or Vons ever did.

its funny because the only Vons ive been to have been former Safeways. Goes to show how many stores Safeway had here.
