I was looking at the Google Street View images for the now Food Lion at 1101 Brookdale St, Martinsville. I found some exterior signage that looks like no other that I have seen Food Lion use. Here is the Google Street View link:

The Street View image is from April 2009, a few years after the transition from Harris Teeter to Food Lion based on the location list. Is this exterior some sort of experimental signage? Or something adapted from what Harris Teeter was using? Or is this a pre-lion exterior signage that was more widely used?

They did a few stores in variations on that theme in the mid-2000s. They also did an unusual curved/striped facade on some new stores around the same time, though maybe a couple of years later. It was around the same time they floated the Bloom and Bottom Dollar brands. None of it lasted very long...
