Trying out a new board layout that's cleaner and more device-friendly.
Assuming it works out OK and without issues, I will be doing some navigation tweaks on it over the weekend.
Thoughts welcome.

I like it and no one said they hated it, so the new design stays. Note that the site and the message board are much more interconnected and device-friendly now.
There may be tweaks that still need to happen, so let me know if you run into problems!

One (minor) issue - the symbols in front of each forum that are normally a different color to show new posts seem to be very similar - in fact, I had to look twice to see that this was posted to today.
Perhaps that color is not a great one (where, for instance, the RetailWatchers uses red & black, which are much more obvious)?

I've honestly never paid much attention to that color theming on either board as I just use the "new posts" menu (under Quick Links) to see what's new since last visit. In fact I actually just bookmark the new posts page.

See if it's better now. There were two icon sets and I had just left the default active.

Yes, that is more noticeable.
Just had to wait for a new post since, when you first replied it comes as an email notice and not thinking, I clicked on that. Then when looking at the main page, everything was the same (since I had already red the "new" post). Oops ;)

You have the option in User Contol Panel > Board Preferences to switch back to the old one (it's called "Old Style") but it may break at some point and I'm probably not going to be maintaining it forever.
This one wins the game for me now because it allows basically the same navigation and UI/UX across the main site and the message board and it's a little more device-friendly overall. That was my main goal in the first place, and very few phpBB themes are flexible enough at allow that easily.
The next trick will e integrating the search engine. That will be trickier and may involve either a Google search tool (which would have ads that I don't want) or a paid option (which would, uh, cost me money). So I'm just keeping them separate for now.
