I know in the 30's Safeway owned/bought some Piggly Wigglys on the West Coast. Does Safeway still own any Piggly Wigglys? I say no way. I'm biting my tongue trying not to get into an internet squabble with someone who is insisting Safeway still owns 50 Piggly Wigglys. I figure someone here will have the answer, which I'm sure will be no.

Safeway rebranded all its remaining Piggly Wiggly units under the Safeway banner in the mid 1930s. I have seen absolutely no evidence anywhere that the company ever owned or operated a store under the Piggly Wiggly name after that time.
