A South Los Angeles market was destroyed in a fire today, but no one was injured, authorities said.

The fire at Park's Super Market at 9149 S. Western Ave. was reported around 3:50 a.m., said Los Angeles City Fire Department spokesman Ron Myers

This address was listed as Penny Market in a 1948 ad. By 1950 it was called Big City Market according to an article about a robbery and a 1957 ad called it Toy's Big City Market.
