During NASCAR's Stater Bros 300 at the California Speedway in Fontana, the RV parking area is anchored by a relatively new type of Stater Bros store, called Stater Express (named after their customer checkout payment system of the same name). I just got the 2008 program guide from my Walnut store yesterday and inside page 2 has a description:
"By popular demand, a Stater Express Convenience Store is located in the infield RV area at the California Speedway. This fully climate controlled Convenience Store offers an array of fine quality meats, garden fresh produce, freshly prepared ready-to-eat foods, fresh baked goods and many non-food items, all at Stater Bros.' Low Prices. Stater Express Convenience Store provides the same friendly service and exceptional value as a Stater Bros. Supermarket."
The picture on page 2 shows the exterior of the store, which I believe is Marina-style. The description above reminds me of the setup Vons Metropole store in Catalina.
Their historic 1948 truck/trailer set will also be on display. This is their 5th year as title sponsor of the race.
This same ad announced their October 24, 2007 grand opening of their massive 200-acre campus at the San Bernardino International Airport, which includes their corporate office and 2.1 million square foot distribution center (replaces 8 Riverside area DC's) that they will start using this month - said to be the largest one-roof supermarket DC in the nation.
