A friend of mine at another board linked me to this and immediately keyed in on the rockfaced exterior walls...not sure where this could be.

It's the Beachs Market at 7900 Imperial Boulevard in Downey. It opened as a Beachs in 1966 so it was never a Safeway/Vons, nor an A&P (it has that A&P stone facade look to it)
