The Northwood, Ohio store was a Woolco, although they also had a large store (with Harvest House restaurant) nearby in Woodville Mall.

The Woolworth's at Country Club Centre in Sacramento must predate the one across the street at Country Club Plaza. When I lived there in the mid-70s, there was no longer a Wooworth's at CCC, only at CCP. The one in CCP (two levels, with escalator) is now a Ross.

Lancaster used to have a Woolworths the store was located at 639 Lancaster Blvd, The store was demolished in mid to late 90's the cool thing is that the sidewalk still says Woolworth on it

Here's a sad story: the case of the closed Woolworth location in San Francisco, at Mission and Harrington Streets.

Rite Aid was supposed to move into the vacant store in 1998, even going so far as to signing a 25 year lease - only that the building continues to lie vacant (with its Woolworth's signs up), unlike the Woolworth's in West Portal that did reopen as Rite Aid.

12/28: Just drove by the location today and it has reopened as a furniture store.

While walking down Myrtle in Monrovia CA...noticed a neat remnant!

The former Woolworth site is now something else.

Yet, kindly, they left the stone-type entrance on the ground in front of the door, that spells out Woolworth's.

Very nostalgic!

I saw the posted picture of the Woolworth's at Market & Powell. Wasn't there another location on market that closed in the late 90's? It was across from Nordstrom's. You could enter it either from the street or from BART because the entrance was a little below street level.

The labelscar on the store in Downtown LA on Broadway is clearly visible under the much-smaller Foot Locker sign. I was down there earlier this year for an anti-war march and pointed it out to a friend. He was very much unimpressed and thought I was strange for finding it interesting.

Broadway, in general, is great. Other than S. Michigan Avenue in Chicago, I can't think of an area of early 20th century architecture that is so intact (although B'way is no where near as well preserved as S. Michigan Ave).

The Powell and Market location was the one across from Nordstrom. It opened in the late 1940s or early 1950s, I believe. It closed in about 1991, and was replaced by a Gap store and a relocated, smaller Woolworth at basement level. The new Woolworth lasted until the 1997 company shutdown (or just before), I believe.

I was with a coworker as I noticed Woolworth's spelled out in stone (mentioned above).

The coworker could care less!

I also remember when Ralphs changed their logo from script to bold printed letters in the mid-80s. I noted this to a friend. Her reply, "Who cares!?"

back to the topic at hand.........

I am trying to remember if the Woolworths in Montebello had a basement level. I know that the Newberrys Monterey Park did and most Woolworths had a basement level.
