On Charles Hathaway's great supermarket photo site, he has this 1960s gem of a 1950s pylon and its next-door 1960s marina replacement right on the same street:

Using Mapquest and Yahoo to find Rheem both point to a location near Richmond Parkway and Giant Hwy in the Richmond area, which seems too industrial for a Safeway location (I drove near there a couple of days ago). Then again, that might be it (as it is the only town with that name that either map sevice finds). I'm particularly curious not only where the town is, but what exact street could have the space for two full-sized Safeway buildings.

The former marina Safeway (now TJ Maxx) is at 472 center st. in what is now Moraga. This is just a little street that runs through the shopping center. The shopping center itself is at the intersection of the main roads Moraga Rd. and Rheem Blvd.

Seems like the green arrow (which I got from maps.google pointing to that address) actually points to the pylon...trying to see where the newer Safeway is. Also wonder if that parking on Center Street itself is still there (from the older photo).

The former marina Safeway is the building to the left of the pylon building. Yes the front parking spaces are still there. The 1986 Safeway mentioned in the other post is in a different shopping center furthur south, at Moraga Rd. and Moraga Way.
