If anyone happens to be in the area, I'd love to see more pictures of this one before it goes away.

the closing kind of crept up on me...(saturday at 6 p.m.)...i was planning on going in for some interior shots before it died...boo.

i will put up some exterior shots in the next week or so.

i'm really sad to see this one go, i think it was the last older safeway left intact here in stupid spokane.
you should have seen the newspaper article on it. one woman who had been shopping there for 50 years (two or three times a week, no less) harshly displaced. shame on you, safeway, making an 83 year old woman cry. :(

Here's a wistful photo of the store, post-closure:

This is slated to become a Lexus or Mercades (big banner on side of building) dealership in 2008. There is a Rosauer's very close (you can almost see this place from Rosauer's parking lot) but hard to get to with the one way streets via vehicle. After seeing the older Rosauer's (modern front, expanded, had a full host of departments) this store had stiff competition.

There is also a Rite Aid in downtown Spokane with about five aisles of food and selling Western Family items. It was in the bottom of some kind of large building (a parking garage). Was this an old Pay N Save? I have not seen WF items in a Rite Aid before. I know a few California Bay Area Walgreens sell them.

Oh great....another car dealership, just what we need :(
I guess it isn't a good area for a bingo hall.

Yes, the Rite Aid is where the old Pay N Save was, just underneath the parkade. Most of the Rite Aid stores around Spokane are in old Pay N Save locations, I think.

I went into four Rite Aids, got the vibe they were all old Pay N Saves. They basically felt like Thriftys in terms of layout. One of them I also thought may have been an Osco. I did see one or two that looked to have been built as Payless.

Also I just sent wobbelina a PM about a non-grocery topic store.
