The "Shelby Report of the West" April 2026 edition reports that the Save Mart store at 1504 Howard Road in Madera has been remodeled. A "community celebration" was held on March 18, 2026.
This store is one of the chain's "longstanding Central Valley locations," according to the "Shelby Report." Aerial photos show that it was built no later than 1981.
The "Shelby Report" states that the remodeled store includes new departments, including a full-service butcher block and seafood counter, an expanded deli, a "refreshed" bakery cake case, and a florist. The produce section includes fruit parfaits, guacamole, and salsa (apparently prepared on site, but maybe produced elsewhere).
The Shelby Report" also states, "In response to community preferences, the store also expanded its Hispanic food product selection across multiple departments."
