Here's an interesting news story that aired on WFAA-TV channel 8 in Dallas in March 1967 about area food prices falling as a result of grocery competition. It features an interview with Tom Thumb president Charles Cullum and scenes inside a Tom Thumb store. It also shows some scenes inside a Safeway store and exterior signage for Safeway, Tom Thumb and Kroger.

The Kroger signage is interesting in that it appears across one of the huge arches that were built into the front of Wyatt supermarkets, which Kroger bought when it entered the Dallas/Fort Worth market and eventually converted over into Kroger-branded stores.

There were some of those arch signs in the St. Louis market (predating the Gateway Arch by a few years). St. Louis was always a Kroger market.
