I was looking in newspaper archives and it put 6510 Chapman Highway for Food Lion in 1999 (advertisement). This is what the current Gold's Gym uses as an address. Sometimes these things use more than one address, but I'm not sure what the "official" one is.

The numbers very often vary and move around within shopping centers over time. 6510 appears to be the official address of the actual center, and I've run into a lot of cases where the store just assumes the center's address in ads though it may technically have its own "official" number. It's a thing I no longer stress about if the location can be easily determined. That said, I did not the variant in the notes. Thanks!

I mean, it could be wrong too. The Food Lion ads for the east TN area also put Jefferson City's as 200 W. Broadway when it should've been 119. (This store existed from 1984 to 2009).

There's an exit off I-75 in the northern part of Knoxville (I think it's still in the city limits) that has an Ingles that looks like it's a converted Winn Dixie. I have some vacation days from work coming up. Maybe I'll delve into figuring that out then.

My brother gifted me a 1982 World's Fair guide, and in it it has the Kroger stores at the time in the area. One of them was "Halls Crossroads" (no exact address) but the Crossroads shopping center in Halls has an Ingles, not Kroger. Was it possible that Ingles replaced Kroger there at some point?

(Also, I didn't know until now Knoxville had Hills discount stores, but it looks like they packed it in around early 1990).

Apparently that whole area is known to some extent as Halls Crossroads. The Kroger was in the Black Oak Plaza (6909 Maynardsville Pike, adjacent to a Kmart) and closed in 2009 (edit from original). It has since been torn down:

Ah that makes sense, the Ingles didn't look like a Kroger. I tracked down all the Kroger stores in the guide, apart from a few that closed decades ago and are now unrecognizable, the vast majority were Greenhouse stores. At least one still operates as a Greenhouse and several still remain open.

There was also a Shoney's list, most have them have closed (especially in the last 10 years) but about four or so still remain. It's a good guide, there was another advertisement for a log cabin company that had a tiny picture of a log cabin McDonald's. I wonder where that was located.
