Fred Meyer in Canada?

Browsing through issues of Super Market Merchandising, I found a page in 1966 that explains that Fred Meyer operated in Canada alongside the Pacific Northwest United States. I do know they were considering a location in Edmonton back in the 1990s, but I never knew of any tangible locations. Is this true, and to what extent did Fred Meyer operate there?

A quick scan of BC and Alberta newspapers from 1960-1975 does not turn up any evidence of articles or ads. I was pressed for time so I didn't go much later than that. Maybe later.

Perhaps Fred Meyer was there under another name, as a catalog business, or other service (wholesale, supply) without any retail salesfloor in Canada.
