I used to live in Mercer county, so these lists are of personal significance to me. Related threads, for reference:
A&P stores, Princeton, WV
Kroger (and ex-Kroger) stores in southern West Virginia (victim of the PhotoBucket plague)

While digging through some old files, I found some spreadsheets I had made years ago compiling the grocery sections of the directories I could find for these cities (including non-chain and convenience stores). They may fill in a few chronological/location gaps:
