Safeway-San Jose-1771 East Capitol Expressway-Storm Damage

The Safeway store at 1771 East Capitol Expressway (at Silver Creek Road) in San Jose, California experienced two partial roof collapses during a major rainstorm on December 11, 2014. Part of the roof collapse apparently occurred above the produce section.

This store apparently serves the Evergreen neighborhood in eastern San Jose. Presumably this store will be closed for a while for repairs to be made.
It appears to have a flat-top roof. Does anyone know anything about the history of this store?
