Here is a photo of the grand opening of a new Safeway in Flagstaff, AZ circa 1957...Unique archictecture for Safeway.

This store was a the "Y" intersection in West Flag - Milton Rd @ Route 66 across from NAU. Around 1980 Safeway moved a few blocks south to University Plaza, where they still are today. The old Safeway was converted to Bun Huggers, a beer and burger joint.
