This article came out about one of the Food City locations that Bashas is closing. It is the original Food City.

The store opened under a different name in 1935 and changed to Food City in 1940. It was bought by Bashas' in 1993.

Sad. Here's a photo I took of that store in 2005:

It's a miracle it stayed open as long as it did. The city of Phoenix bought up alot of the houses over the years eroding the customer base in the general area.
