I know as a fact that the early Meijer grocery stores were setup for use as
car dealerships just in case the early stores failed. I can't recall the exact
specifications but the floors were poured deep enough so IF the store didn't
make it they could easily revert to a plan B so to say.
Years after the concept was a success the floors continued to be poured as
such until the Fred Meijer took notice and said that their was no need for it.
