The only remaining A&P supermarket outside of its core market is finally closing. Now, the northern most A&P store is Pleasant Valley, NY. Also, the old A&P store in Mt. Vernon is also closing soon.

According to the Daily Star newspaper( http://www.thedailystar.com) January seven issue, The A&P in Margaretviille will reopen on January 15 as a Family Fresh Foodtown. will useall of the A&P!s equiptment, but plans to completly renovate over the next six as months with new equiptment as the store is open
The Mount Vernon A&P according to The Journal News, Is going to be partialy taken over by Rite Aid, but the community is extremly unhappy about it and hopes to get a new supermarket in town. I worked in Mt Vernon in a Finast many years ago and remember this A&P.
