I have this picture sitting on my desk at work and it always arouses some humorous discussions, this is the famous Market Street Safeway in San Francisco. This is one of Safeway's highest volume stores in the company. This picture was taken before the 1997 extensive remodel started (a remodel I participated in). I did not know that this store was not orginally built as a Marina style (until this web site). There are thousands of interesting stories about the Market Street Store such as some of the Sybionese Liberation Army (Patty Hearst) shopped there in the 1970's, it also has a reputation for being a good place to find a date (the produce department I'm told), Enjoy!
