I took a little trip today to the old/abandoned Grand Union in Matamoras, PA. I don't know when exactly it closed, but it's been a few years. The sign is still on the building and on the plaza's entrance/road sign. Lucky for me, they keep the tarps off one set of windows and keep a set of lights on, so I was able to get an interior shot. This store is in amazing shape for a closed grocery store and I don't know why it hasn't reopened as something else.

As of my drive-by last week, the interior of this store had been gutted in preparation for its conversion into a multiplex cinema.

I just saw that a couple of weeks ago. How terrible. I'm so glad that I went and took pictures when I did.
