There were Jack in the Box locations in Florida in the 1970s as well. Family legend has it that 2-year-old me saw a sign and piped up from my car seat with, "That says 'Jack in the Box,'" recognizing it as being the same words that were printed on the side of one of my toys.

Jack in the Box is in Charlotte, NC. I wonder if that is a long-standing market or a recent expansion. Locations don't exactly look new, despite some efforts with paint.

The Charlotte locations date from the early 2000s, as I recall. They were still relatively new when I moved there in 2005.
