I think you missed this one in Van Nuys at the corner of Sepulveda and Vanowen. This was a Ralphs until it closed a few months ago. I had been listed as available for lease or sale at krogerrealestate.com but it's no longer listed so they must have a new tenant.

I believe this Albertsons in Burbank at the corner of Hollywood Way and Verdugo was also an Alpha Beta. It was expanded and remodeled a few years ago. If you look closely at the sign on the corner you'll see the oval shape of the AB sign and when it was a Lucky it had the 3-door design that was particular to AB.

My recollection is that the Autozone is in the old AB building.

The Stater Bros you see there replaced the empty store that's at the corner of 40th and Waterman at the far end of that center. This would have been in the late 80's/early 90's, which when I was working in Lake Arrowhead for the summer.

There was also a location in Alta Loma that doesn't appear on the 73 locations. I think in was built in the late 70's or early 80's. It was located on the se corner of 19th street and Carnelian.
Also I didn't see you list a location in Ontario. It was a newer store and was on the nw corner of 4th street and vineyard.
Off the subject, but about Alpha Beta, does anybody remember tapa punch? Is there anything out now that has that taste?

19th of course was State Route 30 for many years, and that's being supplanted by the 210 extension.

Arcadia - 140 E. Duarte, now Grand Slam Sports Center

Duarte - 1322 E. Huntington Dr., now Big Lots

Unless there was more than one Alpha Beta, these two seem wrong to me. The Alpha Beta in Arcadia was on Duarte Rd. and Second Ave., and became a 99 Cents Only store, and remains so today.
The Alpha Beta in Duarte was on the south side of Huntington and is now Mike's Food. Someone posted a great old picture of that store from the 50s on this board in another thread. The Big Lots is on the north side of Huntington (corner of Buena Vista) and was originally, I believe, a Vons.

Those addresses all came from the Groceteria list of 1973 Alpha Beta locations on the Alpha Beta section of the site.

I don't think the problem is with the Alpha Beta addresses, it's with the addresses of the current tenants. According to the 99 Cents Only stores website, the Arcadia location is at 140 E. Duarte Rd. And Mike's Food's address is, indeed 1322 E. Huntington Dr. Big Lots in Duarte is at 1325 E. Huntington (across the street in a different shopping center.) I couldn't find anything called "Grand Slam Sports" in Arcadia. There is a store next to the former Alpha Beta called Treasure Island Sports that deals in trading cards.

What appears to have been K-Mart (the largest building in the shopping center on the northeast corner of the intersection)...is now vacant, and seems to have already been something else in recent years that closed down. (Some shots in Live Local show the existing facade to the building, specifically the east shot, while the northward shot in one instance shows it as KMart.)

This store is on Olympic & New Hampshire. I saw it when I ran the LA Marathon this year and it looked like an Alpha Beta to me.

Looking at it from Live Local, the lack of wings (which was much less common for Safeway) makes me agree with your assessment here...

The Torrance Hannam (Market World) store also looks like it could be a former AB judging from the roof arch:

I figured it out from the fact that the letters were in individual cans and that there were 3 doors, 2 on the right and left sides of the front as an entrance and 1 in the middle for exit.

You know your gable stores. I remember it when it was an Alpha Beta. It closed just after I moved to L.A. to go to college.
