Let's start off with a nice gable store, a couple of Flickr shots from yesterday's earthquake and blackout:

I think it might be this store:

Not sure where this location is:

A Maui location, photographed in 2001, appears to be 70s build:

Another Maui location, looks like part of a mall:

I think this photo's from the same mall:

Not sure if it's Hawaii but the collection this photo is in has a few Hawaii photos in it. It's a "flat gable" look with a glass front.
That "flat gable" look is very reminiscent of the Chico Safeway photographed on this site...

Re: Safeways in Hawaii
I think this is at 1360 Pali Hwy in Honolulu. The Longs Drugs in that shopping center has a wavy roofline (former Super S? I have no idea). This should be the same Safeway as the one pictured here: http://starbulletin.com/1999/07/23/business/art.jpgTheStranger wrote:Nicely remodeled marina Safeway, probably Honolulu:

Re: Safeways in Hawaii: Lahaina (Maui)
In late 2018, the Lahaina (Maui), Hawai'i Safeway store was expanded. See: https://mauinow.com/2018/11/07/grand-re ... milestone/ The shopping center is called "Lahaina Cannery Mall." According to that article, the size of the store expanded from 37,650 to 64,500 square feet and it became the largest Safeway store in the state.
