Does anyone remember the exact timeline of the KFC 1977 to 1991 building styles?
From 1977 to about 1982, the mansard-roof buildings had candy stripe motifs for the drive-thru pickup window and entryway. After 1982, though, the candy striped portions were removed and the mansard siding switched from shingles to ribbed siding.
Both the 1982 and 1984 KFC ads show the mansard siding being ribbed instead of with shingles:
