Super Fresh logo history
When was the previous (pre-2005) Super Fresh logo new? I must have lived in Texas at the time, but I have seen a Super Fresh grand opening ad from the year 1990 with this logo. And I have heard their stores in Boothwyn, Kennett Square, and Huntingdon Valley in PA opened in 1992. There is no way they started with the sign shown here, added in 1994, and notice the logo on the banner: http://www.flickr.com/photos/42444189@N ... 339997109/
But notice the sign the store started using in 1982: http://www.flickr.com/photos/42444189@N ... 339997109/
And the store used to look like this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/42444189@N ... 339997109/
Super Fresh opened stores in 1995, 1996, and 1997 in Hammonton NJ, Berwyn PA, and Salisbury MD respectively that all started with the more modern script logo. I am confused.

According to Wikipedia, The script logo started in 1994. My experience with the A&P company wasn't until 1997 (Farmer Jack) and by that time, of course, the training VHS tapes had that logo.Ephrata1966 wrote:When was the previous (pre-2005) Super Fresh logo new?

Thanks but Wikipedia (in this case) sounds inaccurate. I think I might know who added that date to the picture. He might have sworn 1994 because many A&P properties have 10-year leases. A few SF stores were remodeled with the new logo in 2004, and others closed. The one in Marcus Hook, PA was upgraded that year, but a little more recently converted to Pathmark.

Super Fresh Food Markets first used this logo when they opened in what was the A&P Philadelphia Division in early 1983:
They started using the script logo in 1994. The current logo (1 of 2 styles) was first used in the early to mid 2000's:
The other current logo uses the same design as the current A&P Fresh logo

The New Orleans division used Super Fresh (oldest logo, with the A&P oval) in at least one store. There's some commercial comparing National's Real Superstore to Super Fresh, which uses that old logo.

They did indeed use it, and I believe it was in more than one. Some of the stores I saw in Baton Rouge, pre 1995 or so, used the Super Fresh name. By 2000, all but 3 of the stores in the division had been converted to Sav-A-Center. The remaining 3 (including Royal Street) were all still A&P stores.pseudo3d wrote:The New Orleans division used Super Fresh (oldest logo, with the A&P oval) in at least one store. That only makes sense as the stores were being converted from the A&P name and would have had that shape of sign already, so why not reuse it?MikeRa wrote:Super Fresh Food Markets first used this logo when they opened in what was the A&P Philadelphia Division in early 1983:
Similar to what Rite Aid did with the Eckerd stores they took over.

I never understood the new logo. It looked to me like a swan on viagra.

The final logo for Super Fresh is now being used by Key Food Co-op
