How about a whole mall converted to a Toyota Dealership (El Monte Center in El Monte, CA is Longo Toyota/Lexus today) and the former Sears anchor is an auto body shop!

And they maintained Sears' palm trees, correct? The trees were a "trademark" of that style building.

The former Mervyn's site in San Bernardino CA, across the street from the Carousel Mall, was converted to a California Department of Transportation (Cal Trans) center. Site is a carbon copy of the Whittwood Mall site (Whittier CA), that is now a Kohl's.

The outdoor Pomona Mall (Pomona CA) became Western University of Health Sciences.

This included a free-standing BUFFUM's department store, and also individual smaller shops.

Some photos may be seen on their site:

Hit prospective students, and then about the university.

it's funny, I went to the thrift store that was there about 3 years ago and purchased a few old LPs...a few months later it was that storage place!
