This store is about to be "redeveloped" along with the Savon/CVS next door and turned into a Whole Foods. I'm sure their sales will be through the roof. Unfortuntately the artist's rendering shows that all of the funky architecture is going away:

Now I'm thinking this used to be a Super S Store at one point, with the size of the building?

Here's a Watts store, not sure if it's the one that burned in the 1965 riots:

Another store in the area, Vernon and Figueroa - not sure if it's the Ralphs discussed at http://www.groceteria.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=182 but it is identified in the LA library collection as a Safeway:

Funny that the "grill" is still on the store. The store was Thrifty now RiteAid. The Raplhs store was next door which as I thought was a Boys Market then Ralphs now Ross.
Pavilions, the new, the unusal, the BEST of everything!

I'm going to close this topic because, while it's very interesting, it has gotten way too broad. It could conceivably cover hundreds and maybe even thousands of locations. I think it would be better if we could start new topics for individual locations, or at least locations that have something specific in common.

Carry on.

Thanks,
David
