Hauke's in Astoria eventually moved from the 1970 location (at about 3100 Marine Drive) to one across the street and a couple of blocks away (3300 E. Marine Dr) ca. 1977ish. The new location was built without an in-store bakery (Home Baking was a few blocks away and excellent, and Danish Maid was another mile or so west, and also delightful. (I'm drooling writing this)). The store got a remodel adding a bakery and hot deli in the mid-80s or so, adding on to the south side of the building. Skip retired and sold the parcel to Safeway in the late 90s/early 2000s, and a new Lifestyle-archetype store was built on what *seems* like the same footprint, but don't hold me to blood on that.

He also opened a second location at 668 W. Marine Drive adjacent to the Ford dealership, which I think lasted until the late 80s/early 90s. Both stores operated under the Sentry banner.

Maize's in Warrenton still operates as a grocery store, under the Select Market flag. It's branded as Main Street Market now, and I *think* it was Da Boys between Maize's and now, also under the Select Market brand.

Youngs Bay Plaza would have opened ca. 1976, and the space that is now Ross Dress For Less was a Thriftway market. The Rite-Aid was operated as a Payless SuperDrug. Fred Meyer opened essentially next door in the (late 80s? very early 90s?).

United Grocers had a presence in the area with a Cash and Carry store in Warrenton, and they also supplied two stores in Astoria, Public Market (now Hunt's Home Furnishings, 1535 Commercial) and a Prairie Market at what is now the USCG Commissary, 1240 W Marine Drive. Prairie Market renovated in the very early 80s to add fresh produce and a meat department; I think the commissary had taken over the space by 1986 or so.

For the sake of completeness, the Safeway that now occupies the Hauke's space was originally downtown on Duane, occupying the block between 11th and 12th streets. It was a tight fit in there before 83 when they added service deli!
