I thought you would enjoy these jingles from You Tube. First there is the "Everything you want from a store and a little bit more!" jingle. Although I believe this was used chain wide, I know for sure that it was in the US, Canada and Australia.

Also I have the "What's on your list today?" jingle. This is associated with Fred Meyer. But it was used at Smitty's in Arizona after Fred Meyer took it over!

Enjoy!

It's hard to find a Farmer Jack commercial with the "Savings Time" jingle... but apparently Merril Osmond did commercials for them n the 80's:

WinCo currently has a jingle. It can be heard during their recent commercials launching new stores in Victorville and Lancaster (California).

Also, remember other jingles in California:

"Albertsons...Its your store!" (mini-jingle from the 1990's- circa 2005).

Stater Bros also has a jingle for their recent commercials, which ends with "...that serves your family well."

When I was working in radio I happened to go to the studios of out AM station in another city and came across 2 1960's jingles for local markets in a closet. One of them went something like

"Best Buy market, your neighborhood supermarket,
Has the best price, best quality!
Ample parking, Thrifty Green Stamps too,
And U-S-D-A choice meats for you!"

The Fred Meyer jingle is still used on current radio commercials, although it's a slightly faster version with no lyrics aside from the "You'll find it at Fred Meyer" bit at the end (the rest usually has voiceover on top of it,) and a trumpet as the lead instrument. I don't know what they're doing for TV commercials since I don't watch much TV these days, but I'd imagine it's similar.

For Safeway, I can recall they used an "America's Favorite Food Store" jingle for a number of years in the early 80s, but since they left the New Mexico market where I lived sometime in the mid to late Eighties, I don't know what they might have used after that.

"Quality Still Dominates Where Economy Originates" for A+P WEO from the early '70's. When set to music, it was quite catchy. A later A+P WEO one was "WEO, WEO, We Won't Stop Trying 'Till You Say WEO"

Until the 80s Safeway used different jingles in each of their divisions...In Phoenix they used "Go for it at Safeway" and "Since we're neighbors let's be friends-Safeway"

we also had Alpha Beta with "Tell-A-Friend"....which became "ABCO-a new way to say Alpha Beta"

Although I haven't heard it in over twenty years, I can still remember most of the Fry's jingle from when they operated here in CA:

"Fresh to you every day, in that easy shopping way! For the low, low prices you've been looking for, depend on Fry's food stores!"

I finally remembered Farmer Jack's jingle...

"If you want to save money, more than just once in a while
(it's just a matter of fact)
If you want to save money, aisle after aisle after aisle
(it's just a matter of fact)
[chorus]
That it's always savings time at Farmer Jack;
Yes it's always savings time at Farmer Jack!"

There was, during the 1980's if I recall correctly, a radio jingle for Food Emporium that ran on some New York City stations, the first line of which was "Someone made a store just for me..."

I can't remember what the next line was, because I would always sing over it, "But I know that you're still A&P..."

(A&P owned Food Emporium...)

The oldest Safeway jingle I have is from 1965:

"The big letter "S" in Safeway
Meand Super Shopping,
Super Saving too!
So shop... at Safeway!"

On a Century 21 (jingle house) demo LP they have the "Since we're neighbors, let's be friends" jingle:

"Where ever you are...
You're not very far from a neighbor, who's a friend...
(horn riff)
It's your Safeway!
You can count on Safeway!
There's a friendly Safeway in your neighborhood!"
(instrumental)
"You can count on Safeway!
Since we're neighbors, let's be friends!"

And a 1985 Toby Arnold jingle LP had another Safeway jingle I had never heard before:

"America loves a value...
A dollar saved is a dollar earned,
At Safeway Markets we all have learned,
America... America loves a value..."

Stater Bros, mentioned above:
"At Stater Brothers, it's a difference you can tell. An American tradition, that serves your family well".

VONS="At VONS we keep you coming back for more! VONS is the MORE store!" Would love to see this on YOU TUBE!

Found a good one! A set of Kroger Commercials with the "Let's Go Krogering!" jingle... along with that fabulous disco-era décor!
