On a trip to KC last month I stumbled across what appears to be an old Safeway-Super S combo in Independence. The buildings are vacant but relatively unaltered. The building is not a marina but has a stone facade like many western Safeways. Another clue is the awning across the front of the building, it has a wave pattern like the one I have seen on Super S combos from California (Barstow and Venice I believe). I got a few pictures and will post them soon but would like to know if any one knows about this building. It is located at the intersection of 23rd and Noland in Independence, MO.
