Kroger - Saginaw, MI

And as a bonus, here's a 1970s store in Saginaw that's now a (recently closed) Michaels:

What I find strange here is that the Old Country Buffet/Family Christian building was tacked on more recently (late 80s? Old Country Buffet is in my 1990 Saginaw phone book). I've been to this store and I can tell you that Old Country Buffet assimilated the former Kroger corner entry. Kessel cut a new entry in the middle of the store, which was also used by Michaels. Sometime in the early 1990s, Kessel moved out to a newer, larger store (built as Kessel), which briefly became Kroger and is now a Hobby Lobby:

OCB opened in the late 80's/early 90's sometime and the part where they opened at wasn't part of the grocery store and the grocery store wasn't effected at all. Kessel never did a re-model of this store instead re-locating to new store on Tittabawassee next to the old Phar-Mor. That store is now a Big Lots and Hobby Lobby is where the old Phar-Mor was located. This store on Bay Road was indeed a Kroger built sometime in the 1970's would be my guess. I remember it as a Kroger but was only about 2 or 3 when Kessel took over. I remember the boycott's of Kessel up until about 2000.
