In a batch of photos taken in Norristown, PA about 1933, I have just located several fantastic photos of a very early warehouse type supermarket that is labled "Eagle Giant Market, Inc Shopping Center" (not a typo, it does not say "Giant Eagle"). The building looks like a converted airplane hanger of that era, and out in the parking lot in front is a Richfield (NY) gas station. Inside photos show a typical warehouse type supermarket akin to some of the King Kullen pictures I've seen. I'll scan them in a day or two when I can and post them here, but was wondering if anyone had any information about this pioneer supermarket? This one is way out of my Carolina-Virginia confort zone, but I consider the photos a significant find to add to the archives, so I thought I'd see if anyone had ever heard of this one.
