From what I saw, they will all eventually be closed, whether sold off or left to rot. The ones they are closing right now are locations no one was interested in.

Note that in addition to Stop & Shop (which has 25 total, not all in NY), there are also a large number going to Acme and a smaller batch to Key Foods, that have been announced so far.

Surprising Acme would want stores in New York state. I know they've operated there before but it was some time ago. Would've thought Shop Rite might get involved in this but perhaps they will eventually. Sorry to see it end this way for "Grandma."

The only thing that makes it more sensible is that the same parent company owns the Shaw's and Star Markets in New England. Shaw's pulled out of CT a few years back (but that was under different ownership control) but the small section of NY that A&P still has stores and the few CT stores do make for a kind of "connection" between the existing Acmes in NJ (and the ones in the northern part of that state they are buying) and the existing Shaw's over in New England. Perhaps the new owners think that area looks good and might even purchase (or build) in the future to make the remainder of the connection (would be interesting if there are still any old Shaw's locations empty they could buy back or reopen).
Or if the folks that own Big Y ever decided they wanted to sell...

I'd suspect ShopRite may be involved with the other stores that are currently not listed - depending on who is buying (either the individual owners or the corporate subsidiary) it might take a bit longer to work out deals, particularly if they have to work with one owner for one store, another for a couple more and so on.

I'm surprised they didn't close the Patchogue Pathmark. ShopRite (and to a lesser extent, a S&S a few miles away) ate that store alive.

God only knows how patchogue pathmark and selden waldbuams survived.
Patchogue store is such a sad scene, it's like they didn't take care of the building in the last five years.

So they are down to 67 stores with no buyers. Bunch of pathmarks in Suffolk have no buyers

Has the Patchogue Pathmark started to liquidate yet?

I believe all stores without buyers have started closing sales, simply since they need to be emptied out by later November (based on a date 120 days post bankruptcy filing).

However, there is still (an outside) chance that someone will come in and buy those stores, or at least the buildings/leases without the stuff inside.

I've been told that the Shaw's closed in CT were in East Connecticut while Acme's few stores are in west Connecticut. Speaking of Acme, while it scooped up a number of Acme stores north of the New York area and on the New Jersey side of NYC, the Food Emporium stores and Waldbaum's stores in the NYC area were untouched, with ACME operating no stores in LI or NYC proper.
