Re: Super Fresh logo history
Super Fresh Food Markets first used this logo when they opened in what was the A&P Philadelphia Division in early 1983: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3523/3958083933_32b6890c8c.jpg They started using the script logo in 1994. The current logo (1 of 2 styles) was first used in the early to mid 20...

Re: Food Lion divisions
The status of Harvey's appears to be both use of a local name over Food Lion as well as contractual. The private label at Harvey's appears to be SuperValu and the website is still reflective of a small rural chain. The same packaging design is used for the Food Lion, Harvey's, and Hannaford brands....

Re: Bottom Dollar Food locations in PA
Not sure but I assume the Penndel A&P was a Thriftway at one time. Food Lion is actually coming to Claymont, Delaware on the state line. The site is an ex-A&P/Super Fresh which relocated years ago. I heard they had plans for Merchants Square, an abandoned mall in Wilmington. Super G/Giant-L...

Re: Modern Genuardi's closures
It's official: the Feasterville and Warrington Genuardi's are being sold to Giant in the next few months. There is a good story about this in yesterday's Bucks County Courier Times. Re: 7-Eleven Stores with Full-Length Storefronts
I am going to go off-topic here for a bit and ask: how many other 7-Elevens have had the classic "three squares" logo suspended (or semi-suspended) on the storefront, as seen on two California-area stores? Supposedly on some older '70s stores that were part of shopping centers, the 7-Elev...

Re: A&P to close 25 stores.
the A&P merger with pathmark was not a positive mix of retail brands at all. With that said, I don't under stand why A&P competites against itself in its core operation area. They have Pathmarks across the street from nice upscale waldbuams. In some neighborhoods that clearly don't have the...

A&P has had a online presence since at least 2002Ephrata1966 wrote:A&P's website is a joke too. Just doesn't do justice to such a "great" company. I know A&P is smaller now, but this looks tacky enough to be a spam site.
Does anyone know how long they've had an online presence?

6. Perhaps the Food Fair/Toys R Us was once a "Kiddie City" toy store. That chain was owned by Penn Fruit, and Penn Fruit was bought by Food Fair. Not sure but I think Kiddie City just shut down, and Toys R Us bought the buildings. In the end, Kiddie City was owned by Lionel. There was a ...

Re: Genuardi's locations in PA
It was just announced today that the Genuardi's in Towamencin Village (Lansdale) will be closing in October; the article mentioned it's opening date was 10/17/1990, so it will be closing almost 20 years to the day. Lansdale ends up losing both superfresh and Genuardi's in the same month. That wasn'...
