Re: Smith's/PriceRite/Food4Less Las Vegas

Anybody want to add on to this list of Smith's stores ie; what's there now? Many of the Phoenix Area Smiths stores wear the Fry's Food & Drug name now (via the Yucaipa/FredMeyer/Kroger mergers.) I did notice this one: Store # 339 4735 E. Ray Rd. Phoenix AZ 85044 I think its a "Room Store&q...

Re: Target, La Habra

I don't have any evidence to support this, but my gut tells me this location was Target-built. We know it wasn't a former FedMart, Zodys or Gemco. 1986 makes sense as an opening date, maybe earlier in the year, otherwise Target would have likely jumped on the avaliable Gemco across the street. The s...

There's an article about redevelopment of the first Smittys Big Town site. See: http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepubli ... 06-ON.html

Interestingly, there is discussion about placing a diner in exactly the same spot of the resturant in Smittys.

This has me wondering... anyone know if the Frys located at 3616 East Ray Road, Phoenix, AZ is a former Smiths? (This is in the Ahwatukee area of Phoenix.) This store has the "open-door" construction in place, which I find quite notable given the temperatures this store endures.

I think there is some advantage (tax or otherwise) to keeping the conventional Ralphs, former AB stores in the "phantom" company. Most Ralphs (and a handful of F4L stores) that are former AB stores use their original AB liquor license, and I'm guessing here that other business licensing is...

It may be due to the length of time the Lucky sign was attached to the building (and the number of subsequent paint jobs around such) vs. the Albertsons sign with less than 10 years on it. The Albertsons sign may have partially covered the labelscar and partially preserved it. Anyone in the area car...

There is a former TG&Y at 12491 Valley View, Garden Grove, CA. This store went through a vacancy following TG&Y's exit, follwed by drug store tenants, including, it appears Payless Drugs, Savon, and it is now operating as a Rite Aid. (As a Rite Aid, it has the "blue stripe" interio...

This is a typical post-PnT Taco Bell. It's rectangular and typically has no indoor seating. This particular one is in Alhambra and the one I frequented as a kid. PnT usually had tall A-frame roofs at the same angle as the remaining tiled roofs on the Taco Bell. They just cut off the apex of the roo...

Question: Was 7212 Edinger, Huntington Beach, CA, 92647 ever a "Lucky Advantage" location? This is a former Gemco turned Lucky, ABS, and recently vacated... was wondering if it spent time as Advantage or not. Pictures: From Me (on Auction Day): http://www.flickr.com/photos/7591905@N07/sets...

Re: Gemco Anaheim

Drove by the old location of the first Gemco in Anaheim with my dad the other day and he claims that the current Target on the north side of Lincoln is where Gemco was. I remember that building as Fedmart as a kid and Gemco was on the south side of Lincoln. Any help from anybody? You are correct, t...

I'd be very interested to see what the interior of these stores looked like. Target has remodeled Duarte's interior beyond recognition, the only holdover (I think) is the lower ceiling height in the front of the store.

I have, yet again, made a trek to a former Gemco store... although this time all I took with me was the camera on my cellphone. Still, for what its worth, I like the results (and the ease of using said camera right in employee's presence.) Anyway, the subject property is Target, formerly Gemco at 10...

Huntington Beach Albertsons to Close

Just wanted to pass along that the Huntington Beach Albertsons, which is a former Lucky, and more notably a late 80s "divide and convert" from a Gemco store -- is scheduled to close Oct. 11th. I haven't verified this, but it has been said that the store's lease is up and Albertsons (Superv...
