Lucky 3's a Crowd

http://www.geocities.com/norcalstorepictures/lucky3sacrowd.jpg Anyone remember these? The policy went something like if you were the 4th person in line and they did not open another register within 2 minutes, that you got one of these (if you asked). They were stored in the safe. Albertsons today is...

Kroger/Frys Marketplace

Well, none of the Frys Marketplace locations in Arizona have the in-store Fred Meyer Jewelers (actually operates more like a sub-tenant, such as a bank in a supermarket, even in the full format Fred Meyer locations) as that Graceland Kroger Marketplace has. The Frys Stores do not handle clothing any...

Gro Warehouse

I noticed that store in Klamath Falls earlier this year. Looked like a normal Albertsons, with Grocery Warehouse below the sign. I think I have a photo somewhere, but cannot locate it. The store looked like the typical 1995-1997 Albertsons blue gray prototype inside. Went to another odd store in Kla...

Corti Brothers

The exterior to me is a fooler; looks like a good knockoff of a 1950's Safeway with a shorter sign. The doors are even placed in a similar way with one on the front and one on the side. Same type of interior with fewer, deeper aisles. With how often I visit this store (about once a month), I should ...

Mike's

Yes, when I saw it flagged as a former Mayfair with the new signs up in the Mayfair section of the site last night I thought I should link the old exterior photos since they made it look like more of the timewarp while the new signs make it look like a store that changed names yesterday, didn't have...

Here are some pictures of this store before a new sign was put up sometime over the past year. The discount portion of the prices seems to have also gone away. Still the same other than that. I think this store is a good example of a preserved Mayfair interior. Too bad the office is on a raised plat...

Jewel New Mexico

For about 15 months or so, those Jewel New Mexico Stores were branded Lucky/Sav-On... then rebranded to Albertsons. Also at that time, the few remaining freestanding Osco Stores in NM were branded Sav-On.

Alpha Beta/Ralphs

Alpha Beta in CA went down like this: 1987ish: exited Stockton and Sacramento, selling stores to independents or regionals (Nugget, Save Mart, and independents). 1989: remaining NorCal Stores and San Diego Stores are converted to Lucky, as American Stores has just purchased Lucky and had to convert ...

Monterey

The building certainly does look original. I was quite impressed with this store. The interior was quite modern though. As far as demolishing it and building a new store goes, that would prove an inconvenience to the residents. It would make more sense for the store to either continue operating, or ...

Utah

I visited a Ream's Store in Taylorsville, Utah a few years back. The store was pretty run down and I walked through it starting at the end with produce and going forward to the opposite end of the store. On the opposite end of the store, aside from the expected bakery and deli, was a large western w...

Kroger/Dillon

I think Kroger bought Dillon in 1982. So that would mean Kroger operated the California Frys Stores for about 7 years before selling to Save Mart. Some of those Frys in CA initially started as Albertsons in Albertsons initial failed attempt at the Bay Area in the late 1970's. Kroger did keep the Qui...
