... close them during conversion?) Can't speak much for the Canadian stores, though glancing over some of them were renamed ("Original" Dominion) but some of them weren't (Steinberg's).

On a related subject, is it safe to assume that most Food Basics stores around Toronto are former A&P or Dominion locations? Or that most No Frills stores are former Loblaw's? Anyone familar with the Toronto landscape out there? Resurrecting this thread to say "not necessarily" ...

... anything other than the Wikipedia page for The Food Emporium which says the "The Food Emporium" brand name was used *inside* of their Dominion stores (which is even more confusing) it also says the Canadian format was "garnished" sometime in the 90's. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Food_Emporium ...

The 1930s Dominion site at 938 2nd Ave E is a must-see...it's in a single-story mid-block storefront with Art Deco brick detailing, including a pattern of three recessed squares on the upper facade. I wonder if Dominion commissioned the architecture itself?

It's my pleasure! :) I may have found another possible Dominion with similar architecture. This is a 2nd Muskoka example, in the town of Gravenhurst. The first example was the Huntsville one in the last post. https://www.google.ca/maps/@44.9201405,-79.372637,3a,75y,295.03h,92.03t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s4023TtYRLnG3eD4ASfBmUQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 ...
