i like this topic...its like this store is a "mystery" store....i cant wait to see what store it officially turns out to be.....has anyone thought of emailing washington mutual....?

In 1991, it reopened as ABC Market, which was owned by Cala/Bell, and subsequently was rebranded Food4Less and then FoodsCo. My mom worked for ABC Markets in So Cal...are these the same markets...??? If so, someone has the history mixed up....since she said they went outta business late 80's/early ...

i found this pic of a Safeway. No info on this pic....to me its unique since i have never seen them use this type building....

its funny because the only Vons ive been to have been former Safeways. Goes to show how many stores Safeway had here.

In so cal, the lifestyle stores have the "serving since" signage up.

Hey all! Just wondering if anyone has any pictures or interresting info on the Safeway stores Before Vons took them over...? Some of these stores are still open as a Vons or Pavilions. Thanks!

the Pavilions in Hollywood (the one as my avitar!) says serving u since 1969?...not too sure on the date...but i do know it was a Safeway before a Pavilions....

lol...the Ralphs on vernon and Fig in south LA still has the Boys interior...well it did....it closed bout 3 weeks ago....the Boys interiors were so simple....i wouldnt even call it a prototype

that would make sense since after the strike we got the 2 teir contract....i would hate to think what they are payin the PNS folks...but the clerks at vons in so cal make minimum wage....all off topic here, but do the PNS look like safeways inside...?

Lucky Stores also had a female spokesperson in the 1990s, but I don't think she was associated with any specific brand other than that of the store itself. I can't remember her name; we discssed her at some point in the old message board. her name is Stephanie Edwards....i liked her in the Lucky ad...
