How did Safeway supply Pak N Saves in FL?

I find it interesting that sometimes CA retailers want to go do business in FL yet have little else in the south or east.

Smart & Final had some stores in FL maybe 5 years ago, but has since closed or sold them.

CVS

Image

Sparks, NV. 1978 opened as Skaggs, then converted to Osco, then converted to Sav-On around 1997. Interior remains as Sav-On left it (just not stocked).

This store is still open?

What is being sold inside? This could be interesting.

Appears as if it closed as IGA Foodliner and something else has gone in.

I have made up a perimeter/department layout for the locations in Reno, NV. They were identical in layout. Keystone had an older decor (the one with ugly colored stripes and plain-type looking lettering, early 80's decor). Also, both stores had the strange bread area in the front corner. This area, ...

One must wonder just who created this design.

I think many of us associate it with Safeway since it seems Safeway had the best geographic reach of anyone who used this design.

On a side note, thinking of someone who did not copy this design: Kroger.

Albertsons had two marina-like stores in Reno, NV and one over in Sparks. Both had the hidden front and the blue box letters out front. Both Reno ones were in shopping centers. Both dated to the 70's sometime. Not sure about Sparks. There is some store space next to it, but it isn't a formal shoppin...

Those huge air vents helped me determine that a Super Kmart somewhere outside Denver had been an expansion from a regular Kmart. Many older Kmart Stores have an odd smell, not sure what this smell is. I used to think it came from the food service operation, but since now none of the ones I visit hav...

Maybe for the current operations part, but I'd love a report as to what has happened with any of these rural Oregon Safeways since it has been a few years since I was there (except Ashland which is still going along as is as of Aug or July).

There was an Apple in Novato a few years ago. Very nice store. Large deli along the front wall. Meat area was large. Mostly very old looking, but maintained, flooring and fixtures/equipment. Pretty bland on the decor. This store seemed more upscale than the typical independent. Apple also bought the...

I don't even know if this is Orange County, but I went into what seemed like a 1970's era one on Beach Blvd. somewhere in or around Westminster. En route from a Claim Jumper to Disneyland, if this helps anyone better pinpoint the exact location...

I was in both of those Pacific Beach Stores. There was a drug store in the "original Vons" center which was branded Thrifty, but felt nothing like a Thrifty. I often wondered if that drugstore started life as a CVS. From my observation it seems the original Vons was doing a much better bus...

One of the two Bells in Novato is not going to DeLano. Both interesting stores. I sure wonder which one. http://www.thefoodpartners.com/pr-pdf/08.30.06.pdf

What exactly is that Foodville like? It looked like a 1930's store in size. The employees in Bell seemed to be looking forward to the takeover. Odd that Foodville is soliciting applications.
