Here's a Watts store, not sure if it's the one that burned in the 1965 riots: http://jpg1.lapl.org/pics34/00036545.jpg Another store in the area, Vernon and Figueroa - not sure if it's the Ralphs discussed at http://www.groceteria.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=182 but it is identified in the LA library ...

Business looks very slow in those photos. In CA, there is a large handfull of Thrifty ovals remaining either on street or building signs of current Rite Aid Stores with "Rite Aid" filling the oval. A much smaller number of Payless shaped signs remain. San Mateo comes to mind. Funny how Ec...

Like the one at Maryland and Tropicana or Las Vegas Boulevard and Cheyenne, both locations have a sign that none of the newer locations have it is like a pointed up and pointed down sign that is 4-sided... I think those wer...

Great! Thanks for the info. Does anyone know when it turned into a Super Saver? Was it Lucky conversion or a Albertsons conversion? The street sign is in blue but has the Lucky signature shape. I'm leaning more toward Lucky convering this location since albertsons really didn't do MAJOR remodels aft...

There was a former Lucky, #439 at 11011 E. Firestone Blvd in Norwalk. This might be the store in question. Judging from the store number, it would have opened in the mid 60's. The only Lucky Store in Bellflower was a Gemco on Lakewood Blvd. This is not it. That address would be on the corner of Fir...
