Re: Disappearing Sizzlers in your area

The Montebello Sizzler burnt down over a year ago I hope the irony wasn't lost on that. The Sizzler in Victorville, CA closed years ago and has been hanging on as a Korean BBQ. In fact, every restaurant on that block has changed ownership at least once. The neighboring Mexican restaurant is on it's...

Re: Goodbye Mervyns?

Mervyn's is an anchor at the mall of Victor Valley in Victorville, CA. I noticed on Tuesday that all the signage indicating the opening of the store in San Bernardino had been removed, and that the newly remodeled building had no signs in place. After seeing that, I was expecting some bad news. Cerb...

Sportsman's Warehouse

The 4-month old location in Victorville, CA became history yesterday at 12 noon. It was formerly the old Costco location. An odd place for a hunting goods store in the middle of the desert. Apparently they let the employees know the day before.

Re: Former Boston Market locations in your area

The former location on bear Valley Road in Victorville, CA is now an Arby's, and has been for much longer than it was a Boston Market. Directly across the street is a former Kenny Rogers Roasters, now a chinese restaurant.

There are a few remaining in CA, but the closest I know of is in Redlands.

If you look closely at the case labeled "chilled wine" in the picture, you'll notice it contains gatorade and energy drinks. Could be grape flavored, but definitely not wine.

Yes, they still do, that's the other thing I found odd about the store.

Re: Long's Drugs being bought by CVS and will disappear by 2009

Longs has a very unique store in the outdoor mall (which itself is unique, it resembles a European shopping plaza) in Downtown San Diego, the smallest Longs I've ever seen. I wonder if that one will close as well.

Anyone remember when CVS used to have stores inside indoor malls?

The last H&E in Hesperia, CA closed for good and will reopen as an Orchard Supply. At least most of the employees will still have jobs to return to.

I'd prefer if they go back to the red and green logo of the 80's.

Re: Extinct Supermarket Merchandise

That reminds me, whatever happened to Chuck Wagon? That commercial with the little horses pulling the wagon being chased by a full size dog in the kitchen is a classic!

And a product whose commercials appealed more to children than to adults, Hamm's beer.

Re: Extinct Supermarket Merchandise

Talk about extinct, I thought this thread was as well. Apparently Steakums are making a comeback. And I noticed Mothers Flaky Flix is back as well. Reading this thread again, I was reminded that back before pudding came in 4-pack plastic containers, they used to be sold in metal cans. I think Libby'...

Re: Plaid Stamps in California

Local chain Stater Bros offered Blue Chip stamps up to the early 80's. After that, it seemed most stores here switched to their own private stamp programs. Von's Expo stores had a stamp promotion for a while in the 90's. I haven't seen one here since.

I'd be surprised to see Circuit City buy any of the CompUSA stores. A long-vacant CC location is about to become a Grupo Famsa electronics store in Victorville, CA near an Hispanic supermarket. I'd suspect they'll open in some of these CompUSA stores as well.

the smaller chains went by the waist side. Wayside... A local chain in So Cal, H&E Hardware began it's death spiral a few months ago. They had locations in Barstow, Palmdale, Lancaster and Victorville and are now down to one Hesperia store, which is apparently up for sale. When the Handyman cha...
