Re: RN Market Alpha Beta interior
Just went here today and nothing has changed (except from paint and aisle hangers mentioned previously). Turns out Selma,CA is the last most intact former Alpha Beta remaining. The aisle hangers date back to the mid 1970's with ALPHA BETA still on top of them! Best of all the AB tiles remain in plac...

Re: Old photo
Sadly Safeway really doesn't seem to give a rats ass about their history. There office has a CircleS from "The Market Street Safeway built in 1965". This is not even close to when it was built in 1954 or remodeled in 1969.

Re: Rite Aid Castro Valley/Lee Bros. Value World
I agree that this is one of those stores where you simply enjoy seeing it and looking at it for the history it shows (not buying anything much).

Re: Older McDonald's Locations
The Willow Glen McDonalds in San Jose,CA is actually one of the first locations in Northern California. It kind of seems like McDonalds (as a company) doesn't realize they have left this very old location in its original form. In my opinion the San Jose location is far more original than Downey (but...

Re: Rite Aid in Castro Valley CA
There was at least two additional Lee Bros. Value World A-Frame locations in Modesto and Larkspur. Neither of them retains the A-Frame though... BTW... I was explaining how such a large store could generate enough business. Unless they own the property they (Rite Aid) must be struggling. The place i...

Re: Rite Aid in Castro Valley CA
The building was built as a Lee Bros. Value World. This was part of the same chain of Lee Bros. Markets. In 1970 Payless Drug took over the building and did very little modifications to the layout. In the early 1990's a stucco facade was put over the A-Frame entryway. The back of the store still has...

RN Market Alpha Beta interior
I have a question regarding a store called "RN Market" which in a few photos I have seen here and there shows this store with the complete Alpha Beta Market interior package from the 1970's. Is there anyone who can clarify the exact location of this store (I think its in the Fresno area) a...
