Re: Old Safeway in downtown Tulsa

NICE. I downloaded and brightened up the images (there's two) to see if any interior was captured, but it was mostly outside reflection. Could see some green support posts and a bit of an interior wall on the left side of the building, but nothing about the wall gave any clue of what the interior lo...

Re: Strange (very small) Kmart format

Webster City, Iowa, has a still-operating K-Mart identical to this one today.

I haven't been inside to see what the interior looks like.

Re: Old Golden Corral buffets

I love that chowder. I love Golden Corral as a whole really. The current business model is so different from what it was in the old days that it's almost ridiculous to try and do it in the older buildings. Boone, Iowa is an early 80's design that labors on...the only one in the state...though a numb...

Re: Former Boston Market locations in your area

There is at least one former Kenny Rogers Roasters around here in Federal Way WA (ironically enough, also directly across the street from a former Boston Market) that turned into a Japanese steak house. The Boston Market there got split into an indie coffee shop and a Qdoba Mexican Grill. The Cheye...

Re: Long John Silver's freestanding stores

It's more of a thing that's becoming common with the various Yum! brands than Yum! actively trying to phase out the LJS standalones. We still have at least two freestanding LJS here, and a couple of A&W/LJS combos. In Oklahoma City, KFC/LJS combos are almost universal. I know of a Taco Bell/LJS ...

Re: Dillon's/Kroger in Wichita KS

http://www.geocities.com/sandyshamburgers/index.html Click on the latest update for some 1970's pics of the E 13th St Sandy's in Wichita, and in the background of one of the photos you'll see another Dillon's tower. Based on the "Street View" photos today at Google Maps, I'm guessing the ...

Re: Safeway Lucerne Yogurt-Downsizing Containers

Has anyone noticed that the Safeway Lucerne brand is in the process of downsizing its single-serve plastic yogurt containers? They have been 8 ounces for as long as I can remember. Now they're being replaced with 6-ounce containers (the net weight that Yoplait has used for many years). They're one ...

Here is a Bobs Big Boy Jr. http://www.flickr.com/photos/romleys/1490991298/ Wow. AWESOME building and signage. I REALLY need a time machine. Here's the Roy Rogers Cincinnati sign. http://www.99w.com/evilsam/ff/royrogers.jpg It IS a total throwback inside. I was in love with the glossy red tile behi...

Re: Those little roller-coaster things groceries traveled on

Do you mean rollers like these: http://www.flickr.com/photos/chrismrichards/2181400893/sizes/l/ ? These are a common sight at beer stores in Ontario. I love the sound they make when you order a heavy two-four case with the bottles clanging inside the box zooming along the rollers when they pop out ...

Re: Sambo's Restaurant Locations in California

The Taco Bell in West Des Moines, IA is running out of an old Sambo's.

They even had the old booths up until a couple of years ago when they replaced them with some old worn booths from a different recently remodeled or demolished Taco Bell.

The Taco Bells in this town are just sad...

Re: Old Dairy Queen signs

Some of the DQ's I've been to including the one at the Minneapolis/St. Paul airport have photos of earlier DQs. Take a look next time you're in one; fascinating! This is something they're now doing in newer Hardee's and Carl's Jr's as well. (Old Hardee's and Carl's Jr photos, not DQ photos, of cour...

Re: 2 Supermarkets In One Shopping Center

I was surprised to discover that the Tanasbourne Safeway (185th St, Hillsboro, OR) now has Trader Joe's connected at the hip.

There might be a small business or two in between them, but not much.

Re: McDOnalds

Was the "Mini Mac" a specific menu item that was once rolled out nationwide (or regionally?) I would think if the sign said this, than it was the franchise that "invented" it, much like the Filet O Fish and Big Mac were invented by individual franchisees. If there was, I would t...

Re: Old Burger King Restaurant in Naperville IL.

I just plugged that address into Google Maps, and it came up with a "Street View" image of that corner.

Swing the picture around and THERE IT IS. HOLY CRAP! A CLASSIC HANDLEBAR BURGER KING!

I've always wanted to see one of these up close. A road trip might be in order.

THANKS!

Re: Old Burger King Restaurant in Naperville IL.

I did a Google Maps search and found three or four Burger Kings with Naperville addresses.

Do you have the specific address of the one you're referring to? If the design is how I think it is, I'd REALLY like to get pictures.
