Re: the BROADWAY
Plaza Camino Real in Carlsbad, CA had both Broadway and Bullocks when I was a kid. The Broadway became Macy's Womens while Bullocks became MENS/FURNISHING. I remember as a kid having lunch on a several occasions in the Restaurant on the upper level of Broadway... Last I checked I believe it was stil...

Re: Long's Drugs being bought by CVS and will disappear by 2009
The layoffs are starting sooner than I expected. How many Longs and CVS stores are redundant? I know CVS has a bigger presence in SoCal than Longs, while their BayArea and NorCal presence is small, but Longs has critical mass. CVS has shrank the size of the former Sav-on's and reduced store staffin...

Re: Hemet CA
Former Safeway (can tell from shape of sign @ street) Currently Grocery Outlet I often wondered if this was Safeway. My mom grew up here and we were shopping there the other day and she couldn't remember what it had been originally. I guessed Safeway and she said I could be right, she just couldn't...

Re: Hemet CA
Wow!! What a shock to see someone post about Hemet! Living in Hemet, I must agree with you that there are many conversions along Florida Ave, as well as other parts of the city. Home Depot - NW corner of Sanderson and Florida. Former "Max Club", a small Costco style warehouse store that al...

Re: Gottschalks
I always found it was odd that they decided to pull out of the Moreno Valley Mall... perhaps they just couldn't afford the lease on such a large building. It closed in the midst of the area around Moreno Valley Mall being heavily developed with more retail and big box, and honestly the mall, which s...

Re: Albertsons Hemet, CA closing.
ieguy441 : thank you for the great history of the Albertson's shopping center. My buddy knew the owners of the Chinese restaurant inside so we took a drive to Hemet two weeks ago and were both shocked when we saw the entire store closing. I've never seen a major supermarket with empty shelves befor...

Re: Albertsons Hemet, CA closing.
Drove by the Hemet Albertsons tonight, which closes next week, and all of the front windows and doors (minus the main entry) were already boarded up. Sad sight indeed.

Re: Albertsons Hemet, CA closing.
Also, this isn't the first Albertsons in Hemet to close. In the early 1990's, Albertsons had a store that was originally a Market Basket and it shut it's doors without notice. The location sat empty for sometime before becoming a Staples and a 99 cents only store. The current Albertsons http://maps....

Albertsons Hemet, CA closing.
It was announced last week that the Albertsons-Savon combo in Hemet, CA will be closing it's doors forever at the end of the month. This store was originally built as Smith's Food and Drug in the early 90's during Smith's re-entry (and demise) in the So Cal market, became a Lucky in early 1996 and r...

Old Lucky Interiors in Las vegas
<Split by moderator from this thread .> I have to admit I liked visiting Albertsons that still looked like 90's Lucky, I wonder if any of those survived long enough to make the transition back into Lucky. The Lucky-to-Albertsons-back-to-Lucky on Craig St in N. Las Vegas survived the transition back...

Re: Long's Drugs being bought by CVS and will disappear by 2009
So to everyone here who is familiar with CVS on a longer term basis, how do these stores compare? CVS will surely go in, gut 'em out... and rebuild - even stores that were recently remodeled to the new Longs concept (many recently remodeled Savon Drugs were also gutted and redone). One thing positi...

3300 Plaza Mall, Riverside The original was torn down with the rest of the mall (minus Harris' Gottschalks) in 2003, and reopended in the exact same location, but the entry now faces East, as opposed to North.... http://www.raincrosssquare.com/mt/2004/10/rebirthing_riverside_plaza.php That site abov...

Re: Montgomery Ward Locations-Southern California-1960s & '70s
When did Wards enter the Riverside Plaza? I know that the WT Grants opened after 1957 and it became Wards thereafter.
But when?
The location was torn down (with the rest of Riverside Plaza minus Harris') when the Plaza was redeveloped a few years ago into a small "lifestyle" center.

Re: Ralphs Giant/Former Zody's Locations
The Oceanside location became Montgomery Wards (I was born in 86 and this was the only store I remember being there) and a Ross. I can only assume that Zody's took up all 3 suites that are there now and that the building was divided into 3 afterwards, with Ward's Electric Ave, Montgomery Wards and R...
